How can sea ice or snow cover affect climate
Web25 de ago. de 2015 · When ice is exposed to heat, it melts. And when ice on land melts and water runs into the ocean, sea level rises. For thousands of years, sea level has remained relatively stable and human communities have settled along the planet's coastlines. But now Earth's seas are rising. WebSea ice floes range in size between 10 m and 5 km wide and are of the order of 0.5 to 5 m thick. Areas of open water between ice floes are called "leads". Snowfall remains on the floes all year round and over winter can get to 10-20 cm deep. Sea ice floes can freeze together and can be broken by collisions or ocean waves.
