Literature from across the world shows that gaps in income, employment, education and access to acute and preventative health care worsen health outcomes for disadvantaged populations. WebSystemic health inequities can often be attributed to social issues. In this article, we will use the term social issues in healthcare to mean the circumstances in which people live, work, learn, and play. The sociocultural categories applied to people and their circumstances will be referred to as social factors.
